Aid cards in Berehovo

On 27 May, the system of aid cards will be launched in the Berehovo district. The Charity Service of the Order of Malta in Berehovo will distribute food parcels to holders of the card, which can be applied for by anyone. Based on the usage of the card, the regional model program will create a central register of the aid received by the people in need. The system will record the assistance provided by various charitable organisations and municipalities. The database makes it possible to identify benefits received in parallel at multiple locations and to regulate the aid available to those in need.

The idea of the central registration system was first proposed weeks ago by the Charity Service of the Order of Malta in Berehovo to develop smart cards that can precisely trace when, by which organisation and what type of assistance was provided to people seeking assistance thereby making distribution more responsible, just and transparent.
